Sorry to complain so much
I’m also tired of people treating me poorly when talking to me.
I hate how people make assumptions based on your appearance. Just because I don’t look 25 (I don’t know how old people think I am. 12?), doesn’t mean that I’m not. I know how to initiate and carry a conversation when necessary. So what’s the deal?
Yesterday when I stopped to ask about employment somewhere, I talked to the owner of the business, and in turns he tried to demean me based on how I was dressed. He felt the need to tell me they weren’t hiring, as well as even if he were, he wouldn’t have even given me a application. Then before I could really even defend myself he continued on telling me I should be wearing a button down, tie and ‘nicer’ pants. I’ll admit, I could have dressed better, but it was 1) 85 degrees out, and b) I was just at the grocery store and stopped in on a whim. I didn’t even really think they would be hiring (I didn’t look like a slob or anything, I have a pair of pants and a polo on).
This isn’t the first time I’ve been talked down before. No matter how assertive I’m treated like in in high school.
I hate ignorant people.
